The story about Melting heart Love Sweater

By Živa Javeršek

We’d like to share with you the story about our Love Sweater, made by Špela Jambrek. But firstly we’d like to let you know more about the designer: Špela Jambrek is a creative and kind person, we really appreciate her work, that’s also the reason why we decided to collaborate with her. After accepting the knowledge of psychology when graduating from clinical psychology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, Špela soon devoted herself to fashion, style and fashion illustration, which she now days successfully intertwines with the knowledge of psychology. She started studying fashion design when enrolling at Academy of Design in Ljubljana and has simultaneously started working as a stylist and fashion illustrator for print magazines, including GLOSS, G, ELLE, Ambient, Modna, DASH and Superior magazine. After graduating from fashion design she had continued to work as a fashion and beauty editor. Leading fashion print from creative and organizational point of view and dealing with fashion in art gave her a great artistic spin to create her own style and to successfully manage a thin line between art and commercial world – evident in various commercial and design projects made in collaboration with Slovenian designers and clothing brands, such as Lili and Roza Tees. Her future goal is to accelerate the infiltration of psychology through art, design and fashion stories, to manage psychological knowledge in the world of fashion and therefore establish a healthier and happier approach in the fashion industry.

Here is what she said about her LOVE ilustration: “Illustration made in collaboration with Lili & Roza Tees. Printed on a sweater embraces a story about Love. The values changing in the world of fashion towards fair trade and sustainability. The world of fashion is really fun but it has some problems that need to be addressed and solved through healthier approach that results in human well being – be it for the exploited workers involved in the fashion industry or the consumers facing the tough norms established by the world of aesthetic, beauty and art. These are the worlds that enable us to see the beauty of life, to embrace it and follow the progress towards our well-being, but in the world that currently cherishes material luxury and superficial, rigid aesthetic standards, those values have somehow become an object of judgment and expressing power, leading to rigidness, surface and subjective evaluation and therefore lots of empty space with no real contents. The established emptiness provides a nurturing environment for narcissism to grow and slowly but firmly enough fashion has become a rigid and judgmental imperative furthering away from what is real, healthy and balanced living. It has therefore more and more departed from the vast population that still follows the fruit of ethic and human values as their spontaneous lead to happiness. This collaboration empowers self expression through fashion, strengthened and nurtured with love, the main ingredient that enables all that is rigid, harmful and no longer useful to melt and transform into something valued – by our hearts and others that care about human well-being on a grander level”.
