Letter From The Founder: #6 The True Value of Gifts Lies in Their Story

Letter From The Founder: #6 The True Value of Gifts Lies in Their Story

By Ziva Javersek

November has arrived softly, yet everywhere I turn, a quiet chorus seems to urge us onward: “Give. Gift. Hurry.

And I find myself asking: what is the true value of a gift? What can we give the people closest to us that will truly matter?

One thing I’ve realized: a truly meaningful gift is rarely something that’s instantly accessible, the trendiest book everyone is reading, or the color deemed fashionable this season. True gifts aren’t chosen quickly or bought cheaply simply for the sake of giving; they are chosen with care, intention, and heart.

For me, the gifts that resonate most are deeply personal: my daughter’s little drawings, my mother’s cookies, a quiet dinner with my husband, a day spent wandering with a friend. These moments, these gestures, carry weight and warmth that no material object can replace.

Yet when it comes to giving something tangible, I often pause. There is a pressure, the fear of forgetting someone, of not showing care. And in that pressure, I remind myself that a gift, to be meaningful, must come from thoughtfulness, intention, and care. It is not about filling a gap, but about creating connection, leaving a trace of presence, a memory.

Our bags at Viva’s follow the same philosophy. They are not fast, fleeting trends. They are slow, crafted with care, designed to accompany you through many seasons and many moments. They carry stories (yours, mine, ours), and grow more meaningful with time.

This holiday season, I hope we all pause and remember: the true value of a gift is not in what it is, but in the story it carries, and the intention it holds.

With warmth,
Živa
