Letter From The Founder: #4 The Power of Less
By Ziva Javersek
As one season gently moves into the next, I often find myself thinking about the need for “new.” At every turn, we’re reminded that a new season means a new wardrobe, a new trip, a home makeover, or a fresh approach to life. But what of these do we truly need and when?
When I first began designing women’s bags, one of my main ideas was to offer bags that could accompany women for a long time, from one season to the next, standing alongside autumn trench coats, winter coats, spring outfits, and summer dresses. One bag for all seasons, one bag for many seasons, one bag you’ll wear again and again. I’m not saying you need just one bag, but perhaps you don’t need so many. But a few really good ones.
As a creator, I deeply understand the pressure that comes with the idea, desire, and need to produce something new. Sometimes new doesn’t only bring good, it’s change that requires fresh energy, new adaptation, and repositioning. When I find sustainable and refined designs, I like to stick with them. That’s why at Viva’s we maintain bag designs that work from the very beginning. The proof that this approach works is in the voices of our returning customers who say they’ve enjoyed wearing their bags for years and choose a new one with the desire to upgrade their sustainable style, aware of the timelessness that both design and quality materials offer.
Our bag models confirm their versatility. Did you know that our Zora bag model is the upside-down version of our Half Moon bag model? And it offers the same functionality and compactness as the original, but with a distinctive look. Why do we do this? Because things that work should be preserved, because we want to be sustainable at every step, and because we know that the right balance in everything is the key not only in creating a sustainable fashion accessory but also in life.
And finally, I believe it’s important to share how crucial it is sometimes to simply let go. Here lies the true power of less. I’ve lost count of how many bag models we test and refine at Viva’s, there are too many that never see the light of day. This shows that we let go of ideas that don’t work and don’t produce by force or at any cost just to offer something new. Letting go of processes where things don’t flow and harmony can’t be achieved is incredibly freeing, and I wish the same freedom for you in life.
Warmly,
Živa
