Women Who Inspire: Manca Zorko

By Ziva Javersek

In the series of WOMEN WHO INSPIRE interviews, the first one is Manca, who recently join Viva's team as content creator.

Get inspired with her answers bellow.

1) DESCRIBE YOURSELF WITH 3 WORDS:

Always chasing sunsets.

2) WHAT IS YOUR PASSION, WHAT INSPIRE YOU?

Photography, slow living, flowers and nature.

3) WHAT DOES SUSTAINABILITY MEAN TO YOU?

To me, sustainability means reconnecting to nature and being happy with less. Trying to control or at least be aware of our materialistic and egocentric impulses. Consequently, doing my best wherever and whenever I can.

4) SHARE MOMENTS THAT FEEL SPECIAL, LIKE BALM TO THE SOUL:

Cycling through the fields during golden hour, checking my plants and finding new leaves, listening to the ocean waves, sitting by the fire and singing songs with friends, receiving homegrown fruits and veggies, traveling in a van and waking up to a different view every morning.

5) TELL US ABOUT YOUR MORNING ROUTINE:

There is still a lot of room for improvement in that area, as I am reeealy not a morning person, no matter how hard I try to be. But the parts that I like about it: opening the windows, letting the fresh air in, drinking a glass of water, and pampering my skin with natural cosmetics. Breakfast follows right after.

6) YOUR FAVOURITE CITY / PLACE?

French countryside. I’ve always felt drawn to France, maybe because my father used to travel there for work quite often when I was a little child, and it was the only country I knew besides Slovenia and Croatia. And he would often bring chocolates or a dress for me and my sister, so it always felt festive when he came back home. But it was not until my parents bought a camper van and took us on a summer vacation to Provence, that the real love affair began. We’ve been to many countries since then - and I’ve loved them all - but coming back to France, may it be Provence, Champagne, Normandy or Bretagne, always feels like coming back home. Endless beaches, fields of sunflowers and croissants get me every time.

7) WHAT MAKES YOU THE MOST HAPPY?

Well, I’ve said it all – a summer in France 😊. But besides that: - gardening, - spending time by the water, and - making other people smile – either by surprising them with small homegrown/homemade gifts, randomly helping them with everyday activities or saying: “act like I’ve said something really funny” while I’m taking pictures of them.

8) WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE WILL MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE?

Firstly, our belief that we CAN make this world a better place, and secondly, our belief that WE (each and every one of us) can make this world a better place.

9) YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE OR SAYING?

Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light. Y. B.

10) YOUR FAVOURITE ARTIST?

I might not go with the most obvious choice here, but I love photography, flowers, print design and lettering and these three small brands have it all: laminapaper, resainrman, bela_____styling Going through their work feels like meditation to me.

11) HOW DO YOU PREFER TO SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?

Not comparing to others. Social media often made me think that I am missing out if I don’t go on a trip, hiking, or at least squeeze in a coffee date with friends. But in reality, I need and want to have these days to unwind, to just enjoy life however it comes. I like to take time to clean my home, go for a walk, bake something sweet and spend time with my family. Of course, going somewhere special feels nice too, but only now and then, when the wish arise.

12) WHAT IS ALWAYS IN YOUR BAG?

We often laugh about the 4- or 5-year-old Manca who loved to pretend she’s an adult lady – apart from the obligatory red lipstick on her lips, she also insisted on carrying around a purse and two or three (!) bags, packed with her stuff. In there, you could find everything from a calculator and baby blankets to pistachio shells (treasure alert!). Nowadays, I like to keep it to a minimum – keys, phone, wallet, water bottle and a small cosmetic bag.
