Women who inspire: Ana Maria
By Ziva Javersek
1) Describe yourself with 3 words.
Simple and complicated.
2) What is your passion, what inspires you?
I am deeply moved by beauty, whether it is a masterfully designed environment, a perfectly crafted object, or a breathtaking view. I find beauty is the most comforting, inspiring force.
3) What does sustainability mean to you?
To me, sustainability is about using resources better and making wiser consumer choices, and as more of us are discovering, it is essential to every field. When it comes to fashion, it means taking better care of my clothes, saving for staple items, visiting thrift stores, paying for quality rather than quantity, thinking more about what I buy and why. This approach not only protects our natural environment, but it also makes wardrobe building creative and fun.
4) Share moments that feel special, like balm to the soul?
A warm day at the beach, a road trip in late autumn with hot coffee and good music, a wholesome weekend spent with my favourite people doing things we love — you know, the simple things.
5) Tell us about your morning (or evening, if you prefer) routine?
I really enjoy having a laid-back morning, with plenty of time to relax and reflect on the day ahead. I wake up early and make myself a cup of tea (or coffee once in a while). I see this moment as an opportunity to be in the present, and I like to pay attention to the flavour, the warmth coming from the mug, and how it feels as the liquid moves through my body. Half the cupboard in my kitchen is dedicated to tea and I love drinking different kinds throughout the day. Once I finish my tea, I get dressed and groomed, have a quick breakfast, and get to work.
6) Your favourite City / Place and why?
I don’t have a favourite city or place. I prefer discovering places I haven’t been to before, because it’s always the experience that gives me energy rather than the place itself.
7) What makes you the most happy?
I feel happy when I am working toward my goals and I see there is measurable progress. I also feel happy when I read and learn new things — I feel that the more knowledgeable I am about different topics, the more creative I can be. I feel happy when I can share something valuable with others, and I feel especially happy when I have people in my life I can truly connect with.
8) What do you believe will make this World a better place?
The world would be a better place if we all learned to live a more authentic life, to embrace everything about ourselves, both positive and negative aspects, to appreciate the value of all experiences, to do the right thing even when no one is watching, to be sincere and encouraging with others, to talk to our partners about our day and how it made us feel, to be open to new ideas and willing to set aside what we think we know, and even to wear our favourite clothes when they’re not the latest fad.
9) Your favourite quote or saying?
“If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.”
10) Your favourite artist?
Constantin Brancusi. His art captures the essence of his subjects, which were often inspired by nature, Romanian folklore and primitive African culture. These old world inspirations and the sleek appearance of his works create a unique balance of timelessness and modernity.
11) How do you prefer to spend your weekends?
I tend to use Saturday to get work done, as well as to focus on home maintenance and shopping. Sunday is my recharge day — I go out in the morning, sometimes do something social, and simply enjoy the peace and quiet of being home.
12) What is always in your bag?
Wallet, keys, tissues, and if the size permits, sunglasses, hand sanitiser, hand cream, and a foldable shopper bag.
